Compensation

Certas is a direct writer that sells home and auto insurance to individuals in Ontario and Alberta. We do not have brokers or middlemen so our customers speak directly to a licensed insurance professional each and every time they call us. Because our agents are salaried staff, we do not pay commissions, hidden or otherwise, to brokers or other outside sales representatives.

Ownership

Our parent company is Desjardins General Insurance Group Inc., which, in turn, is owned by Desjardins Group.

Through its various subsidiaries, Desjardins Group offers a wide variety of financial services, insurance products, trust services, investment and asset management and many other financial services across Canada. The property and casualty division, Desjardins General Insurance Group Inc. offers general insurance directly to:

• Individuals in Ontario and Alberta through Certas Direct Insurance Company;
• Individuals in Ontario through Certas Home and Auto Insurance Company;
• Individuals and small businesses in Quebec through Desjardins General Insurance Inc.;
• The employees or members of our partner groups across Canada, through The Personal Insurance Company and The Personal General Insurance Inc.
