    Eligibility

  2. To be eligible for the draw, entrants must be Quebec residents between the ages of 18 and 24 on the date of the draw, and either:

    • Obtain an automobile insurance quote as the policyholder and principal driver between March 10 and November 30, 2008 from an insurance agent in a Caisse Desjardins, from a DGI Client Care Centre (call centre) at 1-888-277-8726, or at www.number1insurer.com/mycar.

    or

    • Submit the expiry date of their automobile insurance policy to an insurance agent in a Caisse Desjardins or a DGI Client Care Centre (call centre) at 1-888-277-8726.

  3. Persons between the ages of 18 and 24 who hold or renew DGI automobile insurance during the contest period are automatically entered in the contest.

One entry per person will be eligible for the draw. No purchase or entry form required; entrants must simply obtain an auto quote, submit the expiry date of their auto insurance policy, or be a Desjardins auto insurance policyholder on the date of the draw, as the case may be.

  4. Prizes: two (2) prize packages worth $5,000 each. Each package includes:

    • $3,000 in gift certificates redeemable at Canadian Tire

    • A $1,500 credit towards Desjardins automobile insurance, for at least 12 months

    • A cheque for $500

    Total prize value: $10,000

  5. DGI will purchase the Canadian Tire gift certificates in advance for each prize package. The packages (Canadian Tire gift certificates and $500 cheque) will be sent to the winners by priority mail in the days following the draw.

  6. Prize details

    Canadian Tire gift certificates
DGI will purchase the gift certificates from Canadian Tire ($3,000 per package). The gift certificates can be used in more than 460 Canadian Tire retail stores, 400 Canadian Tire auto centres, and 250 Canadian Tire gas bars* across the country. For example, these Canadian Tire gift certificates can be used to pay for mechanical maintenance, tires, vehicle accessories and gas.

    $1,500 Desjardins automobile insurance credit

    • If the winner is already insured at DGI at the time of the draw, $1,500 will be credited to his or her account for auto insurance. This amount will be used to pay the winner’s insurance premium, up to a maximum of $1,500 (including taxes). If the winner’s annual automobile insurance premium is less than $1,500, the prize can be used to add Desjardins Roadside Assistance to the policy, reduce the deductible, increase coverage or pay premiums, in whole or in part, in subsequent years. There is no time limit for the winner to use the full prize amount. If the insurance policy is cancelled by the insured or the insurer, the amount remaining in the account will not be refunded.

    • If the winner holds automobile insurance with another insurer at the time of the draw, he or she must claim the prize within one year of the draw date. At the time of the winner’s automobile insurance renewal, DGI will present a quote. If the winner accepts DGI’s quote, DGI will credit $1,500 (including taxes) towards the automobile insurance premium. The person can then use this $1,500 to immediately pay the entire premium or, if the premium is less than $1,500, use the remaining amount to pay premiums, in whole or in part, in subsequent years. There is no time limit for the winner to use the full prize amount. If the insurance policy is cancelled by the insured or the insurer, the amount remaining in the account will not be refunded. If the winner does not purchase a policy, he or she shall be deemed to have surrendered the prize.

    • Each winner must meet the company’s underwriting standards in order to purchase DGI automobile insurance. If the winner does not meet these standards or cannot purchase automobile insurance, this prize will be cancelled.

    • If the winner does not have a vehicle to insure at the time of the draw, a compensatory prize of a $250 cheque will be issued.

    • If the winner has unpaid balances in one or more of his or her files, DGI will first use the $1,500 to reimburse the amounts payable; any remaining prize amount will then be applied to the winner’s automobile insurance.

    $500 cheque

    • The prize of a $500 cheque will be issued in the name of the winner. This amount can be used to pay the winner’s driver’s licence and vehicle registration.

  7. Draw details

  8. The electronic draw for the two (2) prize packages will be held on December 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at DGI’s head office, 6300 Boulevard de la Rive-Sud, Lévis, Quebec.

    • One winner will be selected from all automobile insurance quotes requested and automobile insurance policy expiry dates submitted between March 10 and November 30, 2008.

    • One winner will be selected from all DGI clients who are eligible on the date of the draw, as stipulated in paragraph 3 of these rules. An entrant cannot win more than once.

  9. The odds of winning depend on the number of automobile insurance quotes and expiry dates received and the number of clients in the database on the date of the draw. To claim the prize, each winner must correctly answer a timed mathematical skill-testing question over the phone. Each winner must meet all the conditions in these rules and be reached by telephone in the 15 days following the draw, failing which the contest organizers will randomly select another entry based on the conditions stipulated in paragraph 7 of these rules, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same. The prize must be accepted as is, and cannot be exchanged for cash or another prize. Furthermore, the prize cannot be transferred to another person, including the successor or heir of the winner.

  10. Each winner acknowledges that upon receipt of the gift certificates, all obligations related to the gift certificates become the complete and exclusive responsibility of the company that issued the gift certificates. The winner releases the contest organizers from any liability for damages that could result from accepting or using the prize.

  11. The entrant is the person whose name appears on the quote, on the auto insurance expiry date submission or on the auto insurance policy. If two persons obtain a joint insurance quote, submit a joint auto insurance policy expiry date or hold a joint auto insurance policy, the first person to be contacted must answer the mathematical skill-testing question. The prize will be awarded in both names.

  12. All decisions made by the contest organizers are final and cannot be appealed. All quote requests remain the property of DGI. Any entry deemed ineligible by the contest organizers will be automatically rejected.

  13. DGI cannot be held liable for any lost, misplaced, destroyed or late contest entries or for any technical problem or breakdown that could affect the operation of DGI’s website, network, telephone lines, online computer systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software. Furthermore, DGI cannot be held liable for any damage to an entrant’s computer or computer system components used to enter the contest.

  14. All entrants in this contest release the contest organizers from any liability for damage that may result from entering the contest or accepting or using the prize, should the person be declared a winner. Before receiving the prize, each winner must sign a Declaration and Release of Liability form if DGI so requires.

  15. If for any reason the contest organizers are unable to award the gift certificates as described in these rules, they reserve the right to award the prize as a cheque in the amount of $3,000.

  16. The contest organizers reserve the right to change the contest conditions or to terminate the contest at any time whatsoever without notice, subject to approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.

  17. Each winner must consent to the use of his or her name, photograph and voice in any contest-related advertising, without compensation.

  18. Employees, sales representatives and agents of Desjardins General Insurance Group and its subsidiaries, and persons with whom they reside, are not eligible to enter this contest.

  19. Disputes with regard to the organization or conduct of this advertising contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Disputes with regard to the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie but only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

  20. This contest is subject to all applicable laws.

  21. In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of these rules, the French version shall prevail.
