Theft Victim
In the Event of Theft
If someone breaks into your home, first contact your local police department.
Then, call a claims advisor to determine what needs to be done and start the claims process.
To help you file your claim, have on hand an inventory of the property that was stolen.
For an accurate evaluation, we recommend you draw up an inventory of the stolen items and specify the following:
- Date of purchase
- Brand and model no.
- Purchase price
The Insurance Bureau of Canada provides a form to help you compile a detailed inventory.
We also offer a few prevention tips to help you reduce the risk of a break-in.
